2* La Chaumière is a friendly, traditional hotel which is extremely popular with its guests. We all love the traditional catered chalet but know the limitations are generally weekly stays. This hotel is the closest you will get to a catered chalet, which is totally flexible. You may arrive and depart any day you like, subject to availability.

The hotel has been recently renovated to a very high standard by its new owners Maria and Mario who did most of the work themselves hence the attention to detail. There are 25 rooms, all ensuite and of a good size, most with spectacular views of Mont Blanc. The large windows give a very light and airy feel throughout.

La Chaumière is a 10-15 minute stroll into the centre of town and just minutes from the pretty lake and climbing crag of "Les Gaillands".

There is a bus and train stop only 50 metres from the hotel. The sunny garden and terrace overlook the Mont Blanc and there is off-road parking.

Guests may take advantage of the hotel's minibus service to and from the slopes (local charge €5 per person per trip payable).

Open every night, the restaurant features delicious local specialties (raclette, tartiflette, cheese fondue) and a greatly appreciated home made cuisine. Mario also owns a top class restaurant in Italy, where the hotels chef of 15 years has been trained. Tasty home prepared food and lots of it is the order of the day. A buffet breakfast is served every morning. A packed lunch can also be provided.

Mario is a professional mountain guide and can organize a trip down the Vallee Blanche. He will take up to 8 guests in the minibus for this fabulous adventure or, if weather does not permit, propose an equally enjoyable day out in the mountains. Prices 280 euros for 4 people (each extra person 30 euros, max 8)

The service that Maria and Mario provide are second to none and the attention to detail spot on. Arriving at midday, Mario will take you straight out in the minibus to hire ski equipment and then straight up onto the slopes so as not to miss a minutes ski time. To be able to ski on the last day, having had to check out of your room, there is a shower room for your use and the hotel will store your luggage.

The helpful and friendly staff can give you daily advice about ski conditions in the winter, hiking and mountaineering in the summer. Daily and detailed weather forecasts are also available at the reception. There is ADSL internet access available.
